Jochen Schulte (born August 24, 1962 in Herford ) is a German politician ( SPD ). Since 2002 he has been a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Life

Schulte graduated from high school and then studied law at Bielefeld University, which he completed with the second state examination, and he was also qualified to be a judge. He then worked as a freelance lawyer. Schulte is Protestant and married. His wife Anke Knitter runs the law firm with him and is also an SPD politician in Rostock.

In the state elections in 2002 he entered the state parliament for the first time. In the state elections in 2006 he was able to move into the state parliament again through the direct mandate in constituency 7 - Rostock IV. In the 5th electoral term from 2006 to 2011 he was chairman of the Committee on Economy, Labor and Tourism. On October 24, 2011 he was elected deputy group chairman. He is also the spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group for transport and economic policy.

Since November 1, 2016, he has been Parliamentary Managing Director of the SPD parliamentary group in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament.

Since its constitution on October 17, 2012, Schulte has also been the chairman of the parliamentary committee of inquiry to clarify matters relating to the financial support of P + S Werften GmbH.

Schulte was also a member of the citizenship of the Hanseatic City of Rostock for the SPD parliamentary group from 1997 to 2009 and at that time a member of the supervisory board of RVV GmbH, member of the supervisory board of HERO GmbH, member of the supervisory board of VVW GmbH and member of the advisory board of Rostock Business GmbH .

Schulte came under fire in his offices in Rostock for awarding contracts to the Schulte law firm. Among other things, on the initiative of the SPD, more than 130,000 euros in fees went to Schultes' office from Rostocker Straßenbahn AG , on whose supervisory board Schulte sat until June 2005.
