Jockel steel

Hans Joachim "Jockel" Stahl (born September 20, 1911 in Kranichbruch near Insterburg , East Prussia , † April 28, 1957 in Berlin ) was a German dancer .

Stahl received his dance training from Max Terpis and at the school of the Städtische Oper Berlin . The municipal opera then became his most important field of activity as a character dancer until his death .

His most important roles included the title character in Jens Keith's The Demon , Faust in Janine Charrats Abraxas and the King in Tatjana Gsovsky's Hamlet and Bolero . He was also a popular clown actor and appeared on numerous matinees and tours with his wife Liselotte Köster .

In 1940 he came to film as Marika Rökk's dance partner . In the following years he was seen repeatedly with dance interludes in films, where Liselotte Köster was mostly his partner. Most recently he worked as a choreographer .

Jockel Stahl died in Berlin in April 1957 at the age of 45. He found his final resting place in the state-owned cemetery in Heerstraße in Berlin-Westend (grave location: 18-L-4). The widow Liselotte Köster-Stahl was buried at his side in 1987.

His estate is in the German Dance Archive in Cologne .
