Joe Juhnke

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joe Juhnke (born April 11, 1925 in Koblenz ; † September 1, 2016 in Lahnstein ) was a German writer primarily of western novels.

Joe Juhnke lived in Koblenz until 1937, in Andernach from 1937 to 1951 and was a resident of Lahnstein since 1951. He was a trained restaurateur and businessman and ran the "Franzenhof", a hotel and eatery, for 15 years.

His writing career began in 1947 and lasted until 2009. During this time, he wrote under various pseudonyms, according to his own statements, around 1,000 novels, mostly westerns, but also horror novels, agent stories and mystical stories. The first works appeared in the rental book trade (Feldmann-Verlag), later as a booklet. He found his home as a writer at the Kelter-Verlag, where in 1983 he wrote alongside Dan Roberts (Mario Werder) for the short-lived series "Major Carson". The series, conceived as a competition series to Bastei's "Captain Concho", only reached 35 editions. Joe's favorite genre was always the German western, which he enriched with his novels.

Even today, reprints of his works are regularly published by Kelter-Verlag and have been translated into Dutch since 2007.
