Joseph Emmanuel Lawson III (born September 14, 1992 in Indianapolis ) is an American basketball player .

career

Lawson was a student of basketball, American football, and athletics. From 2010 to 2012 he was part of the basketball team of Indiana University Southeast in the second NAIA division before moving to the University of Indianapolis (second NCAA division). There he initially suspended the 2012/13 season and was then used in 60 games by 2015, in which he posted an average of 17.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocked throws.

In the summer break of 2015 he moved to the German club Gotha Rockets in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . One year in Thuringia was followed by two in Saxony at BV Chemnitz 99 , where Lawson established himself in his position as one of the most successful players in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA. In the 2016/17 season he was the best basketball player in Chemnitz with an average of 15.4 points per match.

After a short trip to Argentina in the spring of 2018, he was signed by Crailsheim Merlins , who were promoted to the Bundesliga . He played a total of 23 Bundesliga games for Crailsheim in 2018/19, averaged 10.6 points per match and was relegated with the team on the last match day.

In June 2019, Bundesliga club Basketball Löwen Braunschweig announced Lawson's commitment.
