Joe Tex Frimpong , actually Kwabena Joseph Asamoah Frimpong , (born April 17, 1982 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian football player . He plays in the position of a striker .

Career

Frimpong moved from Ghana to Nigeria at a young age and began his football career there. He subsequently played for various teams before moving to the top club Enyimba FC for the 2003 season. With Enyimba he won the CAF Champions League in 2003 and 2004 and scored so many goals that he is the record scorer in this competition to this day. In 2005 he was voted the most important player in the Nigerian League. Stations in Saudi Arabia and Tunisia followed.

For the 2006/07 season Frimpong moved to Switzerland for BSC Young Boys . Here he scored two goals in his Super League debut , but was seriously injured in the second game. From September 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009 Frimpong played on loan for FC Luzern . In the 2009/10 season he initially returned to the Young Boys, but moved again on loan to FC Luzern from mid-August. The FC Zurich borrowed Frimpong for the preliminary round of the 2012/13 season from FC Grenchen.

In 2010 Frimpong founded a football academy in Minna . There, young talents are promoted and trained to become professional football players.

National team

Frimpong was mistakenly nominated for the squad of Nigeria's U-23 national soccer team , but as a Ghanaian he was deleted again.

He was nominated for the squad of the Ghanaian national team for the African Cup of Nations 2006 , but could not compete due to an injury. He scored his first goal for Ghana on February 7, 2007 in a friendly against Nigeria .

Private

His two brothers Eric and Daniel also play professional football.
