Joe Tompkins (born August 20, 1968 in Seward , Alaska ) is an American disabled athlete . He mainly drives monoski , but is also active in other sports.

Joe Tompkins was paralyzed in a 1988 car accident . In the years that followed, he discovered monoskiing for himself. From May 1999 he was a member of the United States Disabled Alpine Men's Ski Team (USDST), and from the following winter he took part in international ski races in the disabled category LW11 (sitting, moderate paraplegia).

He won the downhill race of the Disabled Ski World Cup in Breckenridge , Colorado in December 1999. He participated in the 2002 Winter Paralympics and was 6th in both the downhill and super-G in his category. In January 2004 he won the Super G race of the Disabled Ski World Championship in Wildschönau and in March 2005 the downhill race of the Disabled Ski World Cup in Klosters . He participated in the 2006 , 2010 and 2014 Winter Paralympics .
