Joe I. Tompkins

Joe I. Tompkins (* before 1976) is a costume designer and a two-time Emmy Award winner.

Career

Tompkins' career began in 1976 as a costume designer on the television series Eleanor and Franklin , for which he was responsible for the television film Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years the following year . For his performance he received a Primetime Emmy Award at the Emmy Awards in 1976 and 1977 .

For his artistic performance in costumes in the film Cross Creek , Tompkins received an Oscar nomination in the category " Best Costume Design " at the 1984 Academy Awards . The award went to Marik Vos-Lundh for his work with Fanny and Alexander . He received his second Academy Award nomination in 1990 for his performance on Harlem Nights , by and with Eddie Murphy , who was awarded the Golden Raspberry . The Academy Award that year went to Phyllis Dalton for Henry V. , by and with Kenneth Branagh .

Joe Tompkins worked with several directors such as Randa Haines ( Walter & Frank - Ein schräges Paar , Dance with Me ), Martin Ritt ( Cross Creek , Nuts ... Crazy ) and Costa-Gavras ( Missing and Betrayed ) several times.

Tompkins received his third Emmys nomination for the two-part television film Titanic . His last involvement was in the film Don't Let Go in 2002.
