Dance with Me is an American dance film from 1998 with Vanessa Williams and Chayanne in the lead roles.

Rafael lives in Cuba and just had to carry his mother to her grave. Through her he learned that his father lived in Texas and that his name was John Burnett. He manages to get a visa for the USA and to get a job in his dance studio with Burnett. Burnett knows nothing of the existence of a son, and Rafael hides this from him for the time being. Rafael meets the professional dancer Ruby Sinclair in the dance studio and falls in love with her. The single mother was abandoned by her former boyfriend and dance partner when she was pregnant. Rafael gets the chance to become her new dance partner and they train together to perform in a big dance competition. But then she decides to go back to her former dance partner so that her son can be closer to his father. Although the chemistry between the two is not really right, they win the dance competition. However, she soon notices herself that she has chosen the wrong man.
Reviews
The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was " uninspired ", " laden with clichés " and " staged straightforward ". His style has been compared to that of a " television soap opera ".
Prisma-Online described the story as “ pretty old-fashioned and predictable ”, but “ the Latino music and some successful dance scenes still put you in a good mood ”. Overall, the film is rated as " acceptable ".

Joan Plowright was nominated for the Golden Satellite Award in 1999. Daryl B. Kell was nominated for the Golden Reel Award in 1999 for the sound editing for the song You Are My Home . Chayanne, William Marquez, and the couple consisting of Vanessa Williams and Chayanne, were nominated for the 1999 ALMA Award .
