Fred Murphy

Fred Murphy (born December 16, 1942 in New York City ) is an American cameraman .

Life

Murphy had studied architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design . He then went to sea as a sailor on an oceanographic ship for several years .

Murphy made his debut in film as a "girl for everything", then worked as an electrician for commercials and photographed no-budget films and experimental shorts in the early 1970s . From the mid-1970s Murphy was behind the camera in the tightest budget films of some newcomers such as Martha Coolidge and Claudia Weill . Weills / Murphy's amusing women's story Girl Friends also received international attention in 1978.

Since the mid-1980s, Fred Murphy made it into the A-League of Hollywood cameramen. He now photographed more expensive mainstream products, but returned more personal time and again, silent films like A Trip to Bountiful - Travel to happiness , The Dead and enemies - the story of a love back. Murphy's specialty is comedies. Especially the director Paul Mazursky engaged Murphy several times.
