Jofre Mateu González (born January 24, 1980 in Alpicat , Catalonia ) is a Spanish football player who has been under contract with FC Girona since summer 2012 .

Player career

B teams

Jofre comes from the youth of FC Barcelona . For the Catalans he played regularly in midfield for four years from 1996 to 2000. He made his debut at the age of 17. In his inaugural season Jofre rose with Barça B in the Segunda División B from. In the following season, however, the direct return to paid football succeeded, followed by relegation. In the 1999/2000 season, Jofre spent another year with Barça's B team in Segunda División B before moving to Mallorca B, another third division club, in 2000. Jofre was also able to assert himself on Mallorca, so that he went back to Barça B and hoped to eventually win at Barça. Despite 42 games and seven goals in the 2001/2002 season, Jofre's career in Barcelona was over.

Professional football

In the summer of 2002 Jofre moved to the relegation-threatened second division UD Levante . Contrary to all expectations, he reached fourth place with UD Levante in the first year and only just missed promotion. A year later Levante made it better as first table - Jofre played a major role in the success with 37 appearances in which he scored five goals. In the first division season, Levante failed only on the last day of the game because of relegation in the long distance duel with RCD Mallorca . Despite his team's relegation, Jofre remained top notch. He went to the UEFA Cup participant Espanyol Barcelona . This time his club was able to keep the league in the long distance duel. Since he came to only eleven league appearances in the entire season and four appearances in the UEFA Cup, he left Espanyol after a year and joined the second division Real Murcia .

The last few years

Already at the first attempt, Jofre and his team achieved promotion to the first division. In Murcia, Jofre found his way back to his old strength and is part of the permanent staff. After relegation in 2008 , he left the club and moved to the Segunda División to Rayo Vallecano . Two years later he joined the league rivals Real Valladolid . After two years there, he moved to FC Girona .
