Johan Christian Frederik Dam (born July 8, 1863 in Kollafjørður on the Faroe Islands , † January 17, 1925 ) was a Faroese farmer. Businessman and politician. He is one of the founders of the unionist Sambandsflokkurin .

Life

Johan CF Dam was born in Kollafjørður in 1863 on the farm of kongsbóndi við Sjógv . His parents were Jóhanna Maria (born Djurhuus , born in 1841) and Petur Mohr Dam (born in 1837) from Oyrareingir .

His father Petur Mohr Dam had operated a trade in Kollafjørður, which Johan continued after his father's death in 1890. After adding a small post office, he also became a local post office administrator. Brother's son Johannis Dam (born 1902) took over the post office after the death of Johan CF Dam in 1925.

For several years Johan CF Dam was also a member of the local council in Kollafjørður and was elected from 1903 to 1918 as a representative for Norðurstreymoy in Løgting . In 1906 he was one of the founders of the Sambandsflokkurin.

Johan CF Dam was married to Anna Malena Hansdatter Joensen (born 1809).

Peter Mohr Dam , the son of his brother Ole Christian Dam (born 1867), later became a co-founder of the Javnaðarflokkurin and Løgtings MP and Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands .
