Johan Fredrik Dalman (* 1960 in Gothenburg ) is an Evangelical Lutheran theologian. Since 2015 he has been bishop of the Strängnäs diocese in the Church of Sweden .

Life

In the 1980s Johan Dalman studied theology , art history and practical philosophy at Uppsala University . He was named Dr. in 1989 with a thesis on the theological aesthetics by Anthony Ashley Cooper, 3rd Earl of Shaftesbury (1671–1713). theol. PhD. He then continued his studies from 1990 to 1991 at Harris Manchester College, Oxford.

Dalman was ordained for the Archdiocese of Uppsala in 1990 and began his first parish ministry in 1991 at St. Lars Church in Enköping . From 1994 to 2000 he worked as secretary for theological work in the church office in Uppsala, before he worked from 2000 to 2003 as publishing director at Verbum AB.

From 2003 to 2008 Dalman was secretary for ecumenism and thus responsible for the ecumenical contacts of the Swedish Church. From 2008 he was dean of Strängnäs , where he initiated the “Cathedral of the Future” project, with the aim of making the cathedral a concern and meeting point for all parishes in the diocese as well as for the residents of the city of Strängnäs.

In spring 2015 he was elected Bishop of Strängnäs and ordained bishop on September 6, 2015 in Uppsala Cathedral by Archbishop Antje Jackelén . Since November 2015 he has also been serving as senior court preacher.
