Johan Lorentz the Younger
Johan Lorentz the Younger (* around 1610 in Flensburg ; † April 19, 1689 in Copenhagen ) was an organist and the son of the organ builder of the same name .
Life
He studied in northern Germany and in 1629 became organist at the Frauenkirche in Copenhagen.
After studying in Italy in 1634 he became the royal court organist and organist of the Church of St. Nicolas in Copenhagen. From 1653 to 1660 he was the music teacher of the future King Christian V.
His organ compositions have largely been lost. Some collections of dances, preludes and airs have survived.
He died in the fire in the Danish Amalienborg Palace during an opera performance in the theater.
