Johan Peter from Westring

Johan Peter von Westring (born November 24, 1753 in Linköping , † October 1, 1833 in Norrköping ) was a Swedish doctor, botanist and spider researcher .

Life

As the son of a shoemaker, he received a small scholarship and was able to study medicine in Uppsala from 1772 . On October 25, 1775 he defended his dissertation there under the presidium of Carl von Linné . In 1780 he settled in Norrköping as a doctor.

Johan Peter von Westring was elected member ( matriculation no. 1012 ) of the Leopoldina on September 1, 1800 with the academic surname Olympiodorus VII .
