Johan Tyrberg (born June 20, 1963 ) is a Swedish clergyman and bishop of the Lutheran diocese of Lund in Sweden .

Life

Tyrberg graduated from theology in 1990 and was ordained that same year . After various pastoral services in Sweden, he went to the Swedish parish abroad in Frankfurt am Main in 2002 as a kyrkoherde (main pastor) . In 2007 he became pastor in Karlshamn and from June 1, 2009 was provost of the higher-level contract Listers och Bräkne . On April 1, 2014, he won the bishopric against Fredrik Modéus with 71% of the vote and thus succeeded Antje Jackelén , who has been Archbishop of the Church of Sweden since June 16, 2014 . On August 24, 2014, he was ordained bishop in Uppsala by his predecessor.

Others

Tyrberg became internationally known when his congregation in Karlshamn began enabling Sunday collections by credit card. This made it one of the first churches in Sweden.
