Fredrik Modéus (born October 19, 1964 in Jönköping ) is a Swedish theologian and since 2015 the 59th bishop of the Lutheran diocese of Växjö in Sweden .

Life

Modéus was ordained in 1991 and worked in various parish offices , including a. from 2000 at the Helgeandskyrkan and from 2014 as main pastor ( kyrkoherde ) of the cathedral parish in Lund . On April 1, 2014 he lost the election to Bishop of Lund , and thus to the successor of Antje Jackelén , against Johan Tyrberg . Modéus was elected Bishop of Växjö in December 2014 and consecrated Bishop on April 12, 2015 by Jackelén, now Archbishop of Uppsala , to succeed Jan-Olof Johansson . Its introduction took place a week later in Växjö. The motto is: Guds nåd är allt du behöver ( German  God's grace is all you need , according to 2 Corinthians 12).

Modéus published several papers on topics of Community Development and was in 2015 due to a dissertation on the worshiping community in the Church of Sweden to Dr. theol. PhD. His older brother Martin Modéus is Bishop of Linköping . He is married and has three children.
