The Linköping Diocese ( Swedish Linköpings stift ) is one of the thirteen dioceses within the Church of Sweden . It consists of 100 parishes ( församlingar ), which are grouped into nine church districts ( kontrakt ).

The history of the diocese goes back to the year 1120. At that time it comprised the present-day historical provinces of Östergötland , Småland , Öland and Gotland . Geographically, the diocese today extends over the historical provinces of Östergötland and the north of Småland. The bishopric is the city of Linköping with Linköping Cathedral as the bishop's church. Martin Modéus has been Bishop of Linköping since March 2011 .
