The diocese Växjö ( Swedish Växjö stift ) was founded in 1170 as a suffragan diocese of Lund . The cathedral became the church in which the relics of the Swedish missionary Siegfried and his three nephews were venerated. The heads of the nephews are still the coat of arms of the diocese.
