Johann Baptist Müller (politician, 1828)

Johann Baptist Müller (* 1828 in Staffelstein , Upper Franconia ; † September 28, 1893 there ) was a German businessman and a liberal local and state politician.

Johann Baptist Müller was the son of a grocer . He also started his own business in his hometown. In his youth in 1848 he was one of the co-signers of the so-called “Staffelsteiner Adresse” , in which the “ March demands ” were supported with an expressly left-liberal perspective. From 1868 he took over the chairmanship of the recently founded “Städtische Sparkasse”. The following year he became the town's mayor, an office he held until his death. During his tenure, he took care of the laying of pipes for water supply and disposal in town. He also particularly encouraged fruit growing and promoted the improvement of the transport infrastructure by building paved roads.

In 1881 he was elected as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Bavarian Assembly of Estates in the Kulmbach constituency. In the 15th electoral term (1881-1887) he belonged to the 29th (1881-1882) and 30th (1883-1886) state parliament. There he participated as a member of the work in the committees to discuss the motion of the Abg. Mr. v. Soden took part in the establishment of a furniture fire insurance company (December 14, 1885) and to discuss the draft law on the state cultural pension institution (November 23, 1883) . Politically, he represented liberal views.
