Johann Baptist von Paar
Johann Baptist Freiherr von Paar was important for the Austrian postal history .
biography
He came from the noble family Paar , which probably originally came from Italy. Archduke Karl appointed him in Graz for postmaster for Inner Austria .
In 1571 he took over Hartberg Castle and converted it into a three- story Renaissance castle from 1576 to 1584 . The castle is also known as Schloss Paar and was owned by the family for a long time.
He married Asra Sidonie Freiin von Haim . Their third son was Johann Christoph von Paar . Another son was Rudolf Freiherr von Paar († 1640), chamberlain and chief stableman in the court of Ferdinand II , Grand Prior of the Order of Malta in Bohemia .
