Johann Bellinger (born March 9, 1809 in Niederzeuzheim , † October 26, 1882 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a high school professor and a member of the Nassau parliament.

Career

After graduating from high school, Johann Bellinger studied theology, philosophy and philology. From 1831 to 1835 he worked as a teacher in various private institutions. Tasks in the management of the grammar schools in Dillenburg and Wiesbaden followed. After that, from 1843 to 1849, he was a professor at Hadamar High School. In 1849 he was the first Catholic to take over the position of director of the teachers' college in Idstein; after the closure of the Idstein teachers' seminar, the evangelical seminar in Usingen and the catholic one in Montabaur emerged. Bellinger became director of the latter in the fall of 1853. In 1858 he went again to the grammar school in Dillenburg for four years and from 1862 to 1875 back to Hadamar to the secondary school.

The Hattenheim pastor and history researcher Johannes Diel recorded the following event from Bellinger's time as a professor at Hadamar Gymnasium in 1922: "The universally popular Professor Bellinger was proposed and appointed as a member of parliament for the area About the candidate. The students felt insulted with their professor; they decided to demand satisfaction. It was half past eight on Sunday evening; the night had already approached, the streets and houses lay still. Suddenly the muffled shout rang out from a distance: "High school students out, out!"; The noise came closer and closer; ever increasing crowds of high school students shouted: "Out, out!" At the designated place, people stopped for collection and display. They drew two and two, singing freedom songs and whistling, through the nocturnal streets with a firm step and step, as if a squadron of heaviest infantry march it along. They stopped in Borngasse in front of the Blaufärber's house; the Haberfeld bustle was aimed at him. A deputation approached the delinquent with dignity and majesty and posed the dilemma for him: Either immediate revocation of the abuse on Professor Bellinger or the demolition of the house by the avenging corps standing outside. The chosen ones from the high school students led the blue dyer to the window so that he could convince himself of the strength of the siege troops. But he suddenly seized his rifle, but the deputation quickly fell into his arms and prevented bloodshed. Defenseless, the blue dyer had to withdraw; his opponents withdrew; down in the street they gave him a huge "pereat" that resounded from afar. Then right around! March forward through Judengäßchen to the upper market square in front of Professor Bellinger's apartment. A powerful high rang through the air three times, then the train broke up and everyone went home. "

From 1848 to 1851 he was a member of the Nassau estates . Bellinger was a member of the clerical-conservative "Club of the Right" founded on July 27, 1849. After the reorganization of the Nassau parliament into a two-chamber system, he was a member of the landowners in the first chamber from 1852 to 1857, and a member of the second chamber from 1858 to 1866.
