Johann Bernhard von Westerholt

Johann Bernhard von Westerholt (* around 1600 ; † June 26, 1664 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and canon in Münster and Hildesheim .

Life

Origin and family

Johann Bernhard von Westerholt came from the Westphalian noble family von Westerholt and was the son of Bernhard von Westerholt zu Lembeck and his wife Sybilla von Altenbochum. His brother Bernhard († 1609) was canon in Münster and provost of St. Mauritz in Münster , Matthias Herr zu Lembeck.

Act

With the receipt of the tonsure on February 1, 1619, he was prepared for a spiritual life. The electoral commission on the Dompräbende the canon Rotger of Asbeck he put on 3 August 1619 took the sinecures on September 2 in possession. He was emancipated on August 29, 1622 with the revolt to the Westerholt, Lembeck, Altenbochum, Recke, Kule, Wittorp, Bicken and Knyphausen families. Johann Bernhard received the order from Elector Ferdinand to look after the children of Bernhard von Westerholt zu Hackfort (general sergeant), who was shot on November 18, 1638 in the chaos of war in Vechta . On June 11, 1653 he opted for the archdeaconate Billerbeck after the death of Canon Rembert Ketteler.
