Johann Beyer (poet)

Johann Beyer (born December 9, 1861 in Bremen ; † December 19, 1923 there ) was a German poet and teacher . His poem Sunnerklaus , written in the Low German language , found popular distribution in northern Germany , often only under the title of his first verse Kiek ins, wat lett de Himmel so rot! is known.

Live and act

After completing school in Bremen, Johann Beyer attended the teachers' college in his hometown. He then worked as a teacher in Bremen and worked as a schoolmaster until the end of his life.

Of the poems he wrote in Bremen dialect, Kiek ins, wat lett de Himmel so rot! greater popularity in northern Germany.
