Johann Buchner (politician, 1950)

Johann Buchner (born September 18, 1950 in Niedernsill ) is a former Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and state employee. From 1984 to 1993 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament and from 1993 to 2005 director of the state audit office.

education and profession

Johann Buchner attended elementary school in Niedernsill from 1957 to 1961 and then moved to Mittersill to attend secondary school from 1961 to 1965. He continued his education between 1965 and 1968 at the commercial school in Zell am See and then attended evening school from 1968 to 1971 in preparation for the Matura for commercial academies. In 1971 he was finally able to take the extremist high school diploma at the Salzburg Commercial Academy. He then began studying political science and economics at the University of Salzburg in 1971 and obtained his doctorate in philosophy in Salzburg in 1977 (Dr. phil.). He also studied from 1976 to 1977 at the Vocational Education Academy in Innsbruck, where he passed the teaching examination for vocational schools.

From 1968 to 1973 Buchner worked as a commercial clerk and accountant in Niedernsill and Zell am See. He then worked as a vocational school teacher in Salzburg from 1973 to 1984 and was also employed as secretary of the FPÖ Landtag Club from 1977 to 1983. From 1983 to 1984 he was secretary to State Councilor Sepp Wiesner and from 1980 to 1983 he was also a political advisor and in 1984 a media advisor for the FPÖ Salzburg. After his time as club chairman in the state parliament, Buchner was employed as a civil servant at the office of the Salzburg state government from 1992 to 1993, after which he worked from July 1, 1993 to January 31, 2005 as director of the state audit office. In 2000 he was appointed court advisor. Since resigning as director of the State Audit Office, this was due to illness.

Politics and functions

Buchner joined the Freedom Party of Austria in 1977. From 1987 to 1992 he was regional party chairman of the Freedom Party of Salzburg within the party, and he was also a member of the state and federal party leadership as well as the state party executive of the Freedom Party of Salzburg. Buchner represented the FPÖ Salzburg from May 16, 1984 to May 18, 1993 in the Salzburg state parliament and from 1984 to 1992 he was the club chairman of the FPÖ state parliament club.
