Johann Caspar Delius

Johann Caspar Delius (also Johann Casper) (born September 25, 1693 ; † January 30, 1756 in Bielefeld ) was the founder of the entrepreneurial dynasty of the same name in Bielefeld.

Johann Caspar Delius was the son of Johann Daniel Delius (1670–1707), Vogt zu Berenkämpen, who is considered the progenitor of the Westphalian tribe of the Delius family . Johann Daniel's marriage to Anna Katharina Meinder's widowed Nottelmann had 14 children. Johann Caspar was the third son and is considered the progenitor of the Bielefeld branch of the extensive Delius family.

On September 15, 1722 he married Dorothea Grotendieck in Bielefeld. One of their children was Daniel Adolf Delius (1728–1809).

In 1722 he founded a linen business.

The majority of the descendants are merchants and industrialists. Some descendants settled in Aachen, Málaga in Spain, Manchester and Bradford in England and New York, USA. Some others became civil servants, officers, and doctors. His descendant Daniel August Delius emigrated to America and had numerous descendants.
