Johann Claudius von Longard , also Jean Claude Longard , (born May 11, 1820 in Koblenz , † March 4, 1901 in Sigmaringen ) was a Prussian civil servant and member of parliament.

Johann Claudius Longard was the son of the judicial councilor Johann Nepomuk Longard in Koblenz and Christina geb. Lassaulx. In 1852 he married Therese Veit, daughter of the history painter Philipp Veit . She died in 1870 and a year later he married Franziska Veit, the sister of his first wife. He had 13 children, including the later chief bailiff and MP Philipp Longard .

Life

He studied law in Freiburg, Bonn, Heidelberg and Munich. In 1846 he passed the first state examination and in 1849 the second. In 1851 Longard began his professional career as an assessor for the government in Düsseldorf . In 1852 he was transferred to the government in Poznan . In 1854 he finally came to Sigmaringen, where he also worked for the government president and was appointed to the government council in 1860. In 1869 he was appointed deputy government president. In 1883 he was appointed a secret councilor. In 1884 Johann Claudius von Longard took on a new role as director of the Sigmaringen administrative court , which he carried out until his retirement in 1887. From 1892 to 1894 he was also responsible for the princely house of Hohenzollern deputy in the local parliament of the Province of Hohenzollern and in that time a member of the National Committee.
