Johann Crafft (* 1618 in Mengeringhausen near Arolsen, Waldeck; † January 30, 1695 in Alpirsbach ) was a German Lutheran theologian and professor.

Life

The son of the court relative Esaias (Elias) Grafft and Margaretha Hundermark studied in Rostock, Königsberg and Leyden.

1654–1689 he was professor of logic and metaphysics at the University of Tübingen . After he had taken over the evening sermon at the Tübingen collegiate church from 1680 to 1681, he became titular associate professor in theology in 1682.

In May 1656 he married Regina Maria Magdalene (1629–1688), the daughter of the Tübingen court judge Johann Georg Bär. Their youngest daughter became the wife of the botanist and physician Rudolf Jacob Camerarius . In the summer of 1690 he married Anna Elisabeth Epp.

From 1689 until his death he was prelate of Alpirsbach Abbey . His grave slab, which was originally set in the floor in front of the high altar, is located in the northern side choir on the north wall.
