Johann Daniel Gihnlein

Johann Daniel Gihnlein (born November 7, 1663 in Coburg ; † October 30, 1735 ibid) was a German teacher of ethics, history and eloquence and professor iuris at the Casimirianum Coburg .

Life

Johann Daniel Gihnlein came from a family of civil servants in Coburg and was the son of the consistorial secretary and court actuary Johann Jakob Gihnlein and his wife Anna Sabina, a daughter of the Coburg city ​​physician Johannes May . He studied at the universities of Jena , Leipzig (1688) and Kiel (1690) and was awarded a doctorate in law . In 1694 he was appointed government lawyer in Saxony-Coburg . Just one year later he took up a position at the Casimirianum grammar school in Coburg as a teacher of ethics, history and eloquence. In 1706 he was appointed professor iuris . He remained the Princely Saxon Councilor in Coburg until his death and bequeathed his entire fortune to the grammar school.
