Johann Edwin Wolfensberger

Johann Edwin Wolfensberger (born June 18, 1873 in Kaufbeuren , Allgäu , † November 20, 1944 in Zurich ) was a Swiss printer of German origin.

biography

Wolfensberger completed an apprenticeship as a lithographer in Kempten (Allgäu). He then worked as a mechanical engineer in Munich , at Müller & Trüb in Aarau and at the Art. Institut Orell Füssli AG in Zurich. From 1902 he worked there as a self-employed lithographer. He founded the graphic institute JE Wolfensberger , which "became the epitome of quality in commercial printing and artistically designed advertising". He was known for his advertising lithograph , artist posters and especially his “Wolfsberg prints”, which contributed to the popularization of art. Today the graphic institute JE Wolfensberger AG is family-owned in the fourth generation.
