Johann Emanuel Samuel Uhlig
Johann Emanuel Samuel Uhlig (born April 11, 1749 - † May 7, 1822 ) was a German stocking maker.
He also played the organ in an abbey in a small town that is now part of the town of Oberlungwitz .
Life
Johann Emanuel Samuel Uhlig, like his father and grandfather Samuel Uhlig, used a hand-held chair to make stockings and thus achieved a certain level of prosperity.
The Uhlig's house burned down in 1789 and was rebuilt as a splendid half-timbered house in 1790 by Johann Emanuel Samuel Uhlig. The listed building is still in Oberlungwitz today .

Johann Emanuel Samuel Uhlig is attributed in some publications, in 1731 as the first in the region Oberlungwitz the Handkulierstuhl to have used. But this cannot be because JESUS was only born in 1749.
The mistake probably goes back to similar names with Samuel Uhlig , the grandfather of JESU and the first user of a hand-held chair in the Oberlungwitz region. In the novel “ You Yourself Are the Wheel ” by Eberhard Frowein and its film adaptation “ You and I ” (1937, director Wolfgang Liebeneiner ), the focus is on Johann Emanuel Samuel Uhlig (JESU). The historical facts are treated very freely.
