from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Ertl (* 1882 ; † 1922 ) was the founder of the rope factory in Hodschag and a member of the Yugoslav parliament.

Life

Johann Ertl comes from a Danube Swabian family. First, Franz and Johann Ertl founded an export business for textile hemp products together with Peter Oriolt in Hodschag . After Ertl had visited a spinning mill in Szeged during a trade trip , he decided to found his own spinning mill in Hodschag. After a first unsuccessful attempt, the breakthrough finally came in 1909 and the largest factory of its kind in the region was built. After the end of the First World War , representatives of the minorities were also admitted to the Yugoslav parliament, which enabled Ertl to enter parliament. In the course of his parliamentary work, Ertl sat a. a. for his region, especially in matters such as railways and post offices. After his death, his sons also became MPs.

Johann Ertl was first buried in the Hodschag local cemetery next to his father and his second wife. It is uncertain whether he was reburied in the Ertl mausoleum, which no longer exists a few years before the war.
