Johann Ferdinand Feige the Younger

Johann Ferdinand Feige the Younger (born November 25, 1766 in Vorwerk Hellendorf (Helle) near Pirna , † April 16, 1827 in Dresden ) was a German sculptor in Saxony .

Life

Johann Ferdinand Feige the Younger was the son of Johann Ferdinand the Elder . He began training as a sculptor in his father's workshop at an early age. This was followed by studies at the Dresden Art Academy . In addition to some larger works, he mainly created grave monuments and facade sculptures in and around Dresden. In 1791 he created the font from black and white Carrara marble for the Kreuzkirche in Dresden . Later he gave up the little profitable craftsmanship and took over various offices in the city of Dresden. On April 24, 1800 he was granted Dresden citizenship . In addition to his sculptural work, he also mainly did religious glass paintings .
