Johann Franz Ettig

Johann Franz Ettig (born December 20, 1830 in Borna , † June 11, 1905 in Grimma ) was a German seminar teacher, author and writer.

Life

Ettig came from the Saxon city of Borna not far from Leipzig , where he was born in 1830 as the son of a shoemaker. After attending school, he worked for some time as an assistant to a lawyer in order to earn money for attending the teachers' college in Grimma. After successfully attending the seminar, he worked for a short time as a teacher in Döbeln and at the community school in Glauchau. In 1855 he got a job as a teacher at the secondary seminar in Grimma . In the following year, 1856, Ettig became a senior teacher at the Royal Saxon School Teacher Seminar in Grimma, the former Princely School, where he worked until his retirement.

He wrote several smaller writings and presented several volumes with his own poems as well as fairy tales and legends from and about the flora. In 1905 he died in Grimma.
