Johann Franz von Collignon (actually Jean-François de Collignon , * 1715 in German Lorraine ; †?) Was leader of Prussian free battalions in the Seven Years War .

Life

The Collignon family fled to Hessen-Kassel after the edict of Nantes was repealed . The young Johann Franz von Collignon initially entered the Dutch military service and rose to the position of colonel in a hussar corps . With the beginning of the Seven Years' War he went into Prussian service with the free battalion " Mayr ". After Mayr's death, he became his boss. He skilfully led the battalion and was also a recruiter for the Prussian army. In 1760 he took over the " Angelelli " free battalion , which he led until the end of the war. At the end of the war the free battalion was disbanded and von Collignon took his leave .
