Johann Friedrich Dexheimer

Johann Friedrich Dexheimer (born November 12, 1922 in Oberwiesen ; † January 4, 2013 ) was an innkeeper and local poet . He lived in Oberwiesen in the north of the Palatinate ( Donnersbergkreis ).

Life

Dexheimer was born in Oberwiesen as the son of a farmer and innkeeper and grew up there with two sisters. In the Second World War he served as a soldier. After his return from Soviet captivity , he took over his parents' business, married and had five children. While the operation of the country inn was the main source of income for the family, there was also farming, livestock farming and drinks sales. Dexheimer was a member of the Oberwiesen municipal council for 14 years.

At the age of 70, Dexheimer began using the computer and wrote dialect poems.

After his wife suffered a serious accident in January 2001, Dexheimer gave up the inn. He looked after his wife until her death and expanded his writing activities. He translated his dialect poems into High German and wrote an autobiography.

Honors

Dexheimer is an honorary citizen of his home town of Oberwiesen.
