Johann Friedrich II. Gast (* 1815; † 1893) was a German organ builder and executioner.

life and work

His grandfather Johann George Gast (* 1755, † after 1821) was an organ builder. The seat of the organ building workshop was in Fürstenberg (Oder) . After the death of Johann Friedrich II, his son Friedrich August Gast (* 1839; † 1905) continued the company.

It is known that the organ in Grano's Church was built in 1861 by Johann Friedrich II. The church in Aurith also had a Friedrich guest organ. In 1853 he was entrusted with minor repair work on the organ of St. Mary's Church in Neuzelle Abbey . Its five-oak organ is almost entirely original.

The last executioner von Fürstenberg was also a guest . He judged u. a. on May 1, 1843, the assistant teacher Johann Wilhelm Friedrich Honig at Zielenzig . He was referred to Neuzelle without completing the seminar and then stayed with the cantor Christian Leisegang in Tempel (Templewo) to support him. On August 23, 1840, he strangled Penther, the widow of the feudal school, in Tempel.
