Johann Friedrich Karl Gurlitt
Johann Friedrich Karl Gurlitt (born November 28, 1802 in Hamburg , † June 25, 1864 in Billwerder an der Bille ) was a German Lutheran theologian .
Life
Gurlitt studied at the learned school of the Johanneum and the Academic Gymnasium in Hamburg , both of which were under the direction of his distant relative Johann Gottfried Gurlitt . He attended the universities of Halle and Berlin and took the theological candidate exam in Hamburg in 1826. At the same time he became a teacher at the Johanneum, in 1829 the catechist of the labor and penitentiary , the Hamburg prison. On January 12, 1833, he was appointed pastor to Billwerder an der Bille. Despite the rather remote pastor's position, Gurlitt was not without influence as a theologian. Gurlitt left behind his wife and six children.
