history

RavnAir Alaska (Corvus Airlines)

Carl Brady began surveying flights with a Bell 47A helicopter for the US Geological Survey in Alaska in 1948 and founded Economy Helicopters , which was later renamed Era Helicopters . The first passenger flights began in May 1983. After a few changes of ownership, the company was now taken over as Era Aviation by the parent company of Hageland Aviation and Frontier Flying Service . On January 1, 2010, Era Aviation merged with Frontier Alaska, Frontier Flying Service and Hageland Aviation Services to form Era Alaska. Era Alaska changed its name to Corvus Airlines in 2014 and flew under the Ravn Alaska brand.

RavnAir Connect (Hageland Aviation Services)

Was founded by Mike Hageland in Mountain Village. Hageland began in 1981 with a Cessna 180 for passenger and cargo transportation to smaller communities in Alaska. In the 1980s, the airline grew rapidly and Hageland Aviation Service operated more than 50 aircraft, Cessna 207 and BE1900C , under the Ravn Connect name.

Frontier Flying Service

Richard McIntyre founded Frontier Flying Service in 1950 as a charter airline, with a focus on Fairbanks and the surrounding area. The company was taken over in 1974 by John Hajdukovich. In 2008 the owners of Frontier Flying Service (John Hajdukovich) and Hageland Aviation (Mike Hageland and Jim Tweto) founded a new parent company, Hoth Inc. Hageland operated 13 BE1900Cs and 8 Piper Chieftains and employed 230 people. In 2009 they took over Arctic Circle Air Service and Era Aviation and adopted that name. Frontier transferred its BE1900C to Hageland Aviation and Era Aviation.

Frontier operated under the Ravn Connect brand.

On April 5, 2020, Ravn Alaska filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to difficulties during the COVID-19 crisis .

On July 9, 2020, Ravn Air Group announced on its website the sale of parts of the company to Float Shuttle , based in Los Angeles . The sale includes the Air Operator Certificate from Ravn Air Alaska (Corvus Airlines) and Pen Air , as well as six de Havilland Canada DHC-8-100s and one Saab 340 .
