Johann Friedrich Wizani (also Witzani, born September 9, 1770 in Dresden; † September 13, 1838 ibid) was a German landscape painter, miniature painter, draftsman and engraver, younger brother of the etcher Carl August Wizani (1767-1818).

Life

Wizani studied from 1787 at the Dresden Academy with Adrian Zingg , in the 1790s with Johann Philipp Veith .

From 1792 he worked as a freelance artist in Dresden. His works in oil painting and various graphic techniques as well as watercolors mainly show views from the area around Dresden.

From 1803 he worked as a landscape painter at the Meißner Porzellanmanufaktur , but had to give up his work after two years due to a progressive eye disease and return to Dresden.
