Johann Gerhard Hofmann

Johann Gerhard Hofmann (also Johann Gerhard Hofmann zum Spiegel ) (born April 5, 1757 in Memmingen ; † July 14, 1822 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a merchant and politician of the Imperial City or Free City of Frankfurt .

Johann Gerhard Hofmann had been a citizen in Frankfurt am Main since 1781, where he was the owner of the trading company "Johann Gerhard Hofmann zum Spiegel in the Saalgasse, in Specereyen, Oel and Tobacco, as well as the defeat of the high-prince-Hessian mirror and glass factory" until 1817 . From 1808 to 1816 he was senior of the newly founded Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce , in 1811 Vice President of the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and from 1815 to 1816 senior of the board of directors.

In 1792 he became a member of the 51er Kolleg or the Permanent Citizens' Representation , since 1806 he was senior and treasurer there. From 1816 to 1822 he was a senator in the Senate of the Free City of Frankfurt .
