Johann Gottfried Donati
Johann Gottfried Donati (* 1706 in Leipzig , † 1782 in Greiz ) was a German composer and organist .
Life
Donati comes from the Donati family of organ builders . He studied in Leipzig and from 1729 became town clerk and organist in Greiz. On December 2, 1742, in the presence of the Reussian councilors of Unter-Greiz , he inaugurated the organ built by Johann Gottfried Silbermann in Fraureuth . He also had a friendship with Silbermann. From the time of the organ consecration in Fraureuth there is a 16-page booklet Discurse by two organ friends , in which Rosetto and Tarindo ponder organ building. In Tarindo it is probably Donati.
At Easter 1743 he also consecrated the Silbermann organ at Burgk Castle and noticed O silver sound! about the acoustics of the organ. In 1746 he initiated a Collegium Musicum in Greiz based on the Leipzig model. For this college he put together a small rulebook with 17 rules of conduct.
