Johann Gottlieb Bujack

Johann Gottlieb Bujack (born January 17, 1787 in Wehlau , East Prussia , † October 6, 1840 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was a German high school professor and scientist.

Life

At the age of twelve Bujack was sent to the royal orphanage in Königsberg i. Pr. Recorded. He completed his theology studies, which he began in 1804, with a passed exam. He was then employed as an interim preacher and teacher at the orphanage, where he was dismissed after six months because of his dealings with the theosophist Johannes Schönherr (1771-1826). Bujack now turned to the natural sciences and became an assistant teacher in 1810 and a full teacher in 1811 at the Collegium Fridericianum in Königsberg i. Pr. His first marriage was to a sister of Pastor Johannes Wilhelm Ebel (1784–1861), the first representative of the revival movement , and his second marriage was to Johanna Becker. Bujack has published numerous scientific treatises in the fields of botany , zoology and geology , most of which appeared in the Prussian provincial papers and received much attention. His work Natural History of the Higher Animals , published in 1837, with special consideration of the Prussica fauna , met with a positive response from experts.

Bujack was a member of the Physico-Economic Society of Königsberg in Pr. And had acted as its librarian in the period 1822–1837; he had also rendered services to society through his lectures.

Johann Gottlieb Bujack was the father of Georg Bujack (1835-1891).
