Johann Gottlieb Hansing

Johann Gottlieb Hansing (born November 19, 1754 in Celle ; † March 24, 1841 in Harburg an der Elbe ) was mayor of Harburg and mayor and notary of the French Empire .

Life

Hansing studied law and received in 1777 from the town of Harburg a job as town counsel . After 50 years of work for the city of Harburg an der Elbe , he was elected mayor in October 1827 after the introduction of new administrative regulations for the Royal Hanoverian Landdrostei Lüneburg . The term of office was interrupted in 1810 by the French occupation. During a transition period from 1810 to 1811, Johann Gottlieb Hansing remained in the service of the French Empire as Imperial Mayor. Johann Gottlieb Hansing then worked as a notary under the name "Jean Theophile Hansing". At the end of April 1814, the French left Harburg and "Jean Theophile Hansing" became mayor Johann Gottlieb Hansing again. The term of office of JG Hansing ended in 1835. Hansing died in Harburg. He is buried in the old Harburg cemetery. The tombstone is a listed building and can be viewed in good condition.
