Johann Hansmann (* 1812 in Cologne , † 1859 in Cologne) was a German sculptor and stonemason .

Life

Johann Hansmann first attended elementary school before completing an apprenticeship in a wood or stone sculptor's workshop at the age of 14. It can no longer be determined when he dared to jump into self-employment. According to the Cologne address books, he can be traced back to a sculptor's studio at Antoniterstraße 12A from 1835 to 1860. When Johann Hansmann died in 1859, his wife continued the studio until 1865, as can be seen in various address books. Then it passed to his son Otto Hansmann (born August 20, 1834), who ran the sculptor's workshop until 1873.
