The Schloßbühl Limpach is a Outbound Spur castle about 1.2 km south-southeast of the hamlet Limpach . The Burgstall is located in the district of Homberg , a suburb of the Deggenhausertal municipality in the Lake Constance district ( Baden-Württemberg ).

description

The easily recognizable Burgstall is 597  m above sea level. NN on a south-facing spur , the slopes of which drop off very steeply. The spur was protected from the plateau by a neck ditch , which is now largely disturbed , and a shield wall pierced by a forest path. A wedge-shaped, several meters deep section trench connects to this about 55 meters long, south-sloping outer bailey . The section trench is followed by the main area of the facility, which towers above the outer bailey by a few meters. Two circular depressions can be seen on the main area, which is difficult to access. A depression is about one meter deep and enclosed by a flat wall. The second depression is about two meters deep and the lower area is lined with field stones. Alois Schneider suspects a cistern here . The main area is roughly rectangular. Its flanks in the area of the slopes and ditches are still very steep today. In the south, the main area is separated from the spur by a further section trench. The much narrower southern spur itself is in turn secured in the south by a section ditch, followed by an even narrower area on which no traces of a former use can be seen. Landslides can be seen on the west side of this section.

history

Finds and secured documented mentions of this probably from the 12th / 13th centuries. Spornburg dating back to the 19th century are not known. Alois Schneider thinks it is possible that the castle was used by the Limpach local nobility, which is documented around 1170 with an Albertus de Limpach and 1282 with a Konrad de Lientbach .
