history
The castle was probably built in the 12th century by the Lords of Hüneberg, on March 15, 1171, Gerungus de Huneberc, a nobleman of this family, was first mentioned. The Lords of Hüneberg were ministerials of the Reichenau Monastery , from the 13th century they served the Counts of Heiligenberg , in whose documents they appear several times. The aristocratic family died out during the 14th century, and when it became extinct, so did their castle. In 1494 part of the castle valley uff dem Hünenberg was sold by a citizen of Constance.
From the former castle complex on an oval castle area of about 130 by 17 meters there was a core castle measuring about 17 by 70 meters . Today there are still 6 meter high wall remains of the residential tower as well as the remains of a trench section
