The castle Ittendorf , today Castle Ittendorf is an Outbound hilltop castle and a later palace on an approximately 440  m above sea level. NN high elevation in today's Ittendorf district of the small town of Markdorf in Baden-Württemberg in the Lake Constance district . The castle and the church of St. Martin are considered landmarks of Ittendorf.

The castle of the Schenken von Schmalegg taverns , a Guelph - Hohenstaufen ministerial family , which was probably built in the 13th century , is attested to around 1260. In 1302 the castle and the village became the feudal dependence of the Salem monastery through a formal sale . The castle was destroyed in the Peasants' War.

The castle was built by Einsiedeln Monastery on the castle site in the 17th century and expanded as a governor's office from 1671 to 1677.

The castle, which is surrounded by a medieval circular wall, is a three-story stepped gable building that has been in changing private ownership since the secularization .

Badische Bauernschule association

On November 22, 1931, the Badische Bauernschule was founded by several associations under Lambert Schill as the “Badische Bauernschule” association after a long renovation phase in Ittendorf Castle and inaugurated in the presence of Minister Andreas Hermes . It was forcibly dissolved as early as 1933 and re-established in Schwerzen after the Second World War .
