The Drachenstein Castle , also called Drackenstein , is the ruin of a spur castle at 520 m above sea level. NN high Drackenstein 500 meters north of the church in the Laimnau district of the city of Tettnang in the Lake Constance district in Baden-Württemberg .
history
In the first period, the castle was probably a complex from the early Middle Ages , which was later rebuilt during the High Middle Ages , including a moat dividing the complex. In 1480 the Wallburg was mentioned as "Trackenstein das Burgstall" . Remnants of ramparts and moats are still preserved from the former castle, a weir system on an area of around 130 by 70 meters .
Inside the ramparts is a striking erratic block of gneiss known in the region as the Drackenstein .
