The Postal Leonegg also Schloßbühl or Leoneck called a is Outbound Spur castle running on a southwest direction, and steeply falling after two sides 770 m above sea level. NN high spur south of Katzensteig, a hamlet near the district of Hattenweiler, in the municipality of Heiligenberg in Lake Constance ( Baden-Württemberg ).
The spur is separated from the north-eastern main plateau by a well-preserved neck ditch . The castle stable itself is divided into two almost rectangular areas, which are separated by a flat hollow. At the south-western end, the facility is protected by a section trench that is still very deep and wide today . In the area southwest of the section trench there are more sanded trenches, but the system is partially disturbed by the removal of sand and the creation of paths.
It is possible that the castle was built on an older fortification. A Gothefridus de Leonegge was first mentioned in a document in 1100 as a witness to a donation, in 1209 a Hartnid von Leonegg was named as the owner of the Vogtei Altheim . A Heinrich von Leonegg is 1257 founded in Ueberlingen Johanniter coming demonstrated more of Leonegg this tradition seem to have followed, until finally in 1311 the last known male members of this generation, Burkhard von Leonegg , as Commander of the Coming Rheinfelden is called. In 1614 Leonegg, which has seen further changes of ownership to the Counts of Heiligenberg , the Reichenau Monastery and the Teutonic Order Commander Mainau , is already known as the Burgstall . After that, it seems to have served as a quarry, as there are no more remains of buildings above ground.
