Johann Heinrich Gadow

Johann Heinrich Gadow (* 1815 ; † 1895 ) was a German Lutheran pastor and explorer.

Life

Gadow studied Protestant theology at the University of Breslau . During his studies he became a member of the Corps Silesia Breslau in 1831 or 1832 . After completing his training, he was certified by ordinance of the Pomeranian Consistory in 1841 that he was eligible for the preaching office. In 1846/1847 Gadow went on a ten-month trip to Palestine (region) with Philipp Wolff . Gadow produced the drawings and statistics for Wolff's book on Palestine and a new city map of Jerusalem . But he also wrote his own travel diary and much-cited essays at the time. From 1849 to 1856 he was a regional church pastor in Trieglaff - despite violent protests from Old Lutheran believers against his appointment . Then he was pastor in Krummin and pastor in Lietzen .
